Andrew Watson Scott

Andrew Watson Scott

Andrew Watson Scott died at home in Pierrefonds, Montreal, on the 29th of January, 2026, after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

He was born in the Eastern Townships on 13th of January 1956 to an unwed mother. He was promptly adopted by Mary Ardelle Burns-Scott and William B. Scott, Jr (known as Bill) of Grand-Mère, Quebec, and raised with William A. Scott (also known as Bill), who was naturally born of the adoptive couple nine days later after Andrew’s birth. They were pretty much raised as twins for the first few years, being dressed similarly and going to the same classes. As the years went on their very different characters emerged.

After attending schools in Grand-Mère, Shawinigan QC, Bathurst NB, Oakville ON, and Bishop’s College School in Lennoxville, QC, Andrew went to university for one term at Queens University before leaving with a bad case of mononucleosis. After trying his hand at automobile repair and constructing flight simulators, he found his vocation in the maintenance of large mainframe computers with EDS and other data companies, specialising in security. He settled down into a quiet suburban family life, marrying Nicole Boivin in 1989 and having two children – Alex in 1990 and Katherine (Katie) in 1991. He moved out of the stressful work of computers and finished off his working life at the local RONA, retiring at the age of fifty!

Andrew travelled across Europe and Asia in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, at one point making his way overland from England to India, a trip then possible in a more peaceful Middle East. Later in life he stayed close to home in Montreal, but was always hospitable when friends and family came to visit. For a number of years he spent much of his time at his cottage at Indian Lake in Pine Hill, Qc. When his widowed mother returned from England to Canada to live in the West Island of Montreal, he was her major support, from 1995 until her death in 2010. In the last couple of decades his birth mother acknowledged him, and when she died he sat with the children of her marriage at her funeral.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Nicole Boivin, and his children Katie and Alex, his daughter-in-law Sarah, and his newborn granddaughter River Scott, as well his brothers Bill Scott of Erin ON and Bruce Bryant-Scott of Crete, Greece. He will be remembered by them and his many cousins.

There are no plans for a funeral, and preparations for an interment of ashes are still being made.
