It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rita Amelia Harfield Buckler. Rita passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023, in Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Rita was born and raised in Montreal where she lived with her parents, Albert and Amelia Harfield, sister Florence and brother George. She later moved to Mascouche with her husband Fred Buckler and children Alan and Doreen.
Rita had a heart of gold. She was well known throughout her community for helping those in need, for the special cakes she made, working with the Girl Guides, knitting for family and friends, working as a local nursery school teacher and her potted plants, which were her pride and joy. Rita also had a very great love for all the furry friends she welcomed into her home over the years, most recently, Dixie. Rita, as well, had a strong Christian faith and supported both the Anglican Parish of Mascouche and the Salvation Army.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Fred, sister Florence, brother George, great niece Tammy, Tammy’s step-father Karl, and grandson Benjamin.
She will always be in the hearts of her son Alan (Margaret), daughter Doreen (Philip), grandchildren Jeff, Melyssa (Kyle), Stephanie (Bobby), Caitlyn (Ryan), Sam, Kristen (Larry) and Courtney (Jordan) and her great grandchildren Cora, Cole, Zachary, Owen, Grayson, Peyton, Asher and Addyson.
She will be remembered fondly by nieces Carol (beloved God-daughter), Lorraine (Danny) and nephew George (Nancy) along with many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Many thanks to the Pierre-Le Gardeur Palliative Care and 4th floor staff, the staff of the CO-OP and CLSC and especially the staff of CHSLD de la Côte Boisée J. A. Duchesneau Day Center, where Mom spent many happy hours. We would like to express a very special thank you to Helene Sarrazin, for all her help and support coordinating these services for Mom.
A celebration of Rita’s life and interment of ashes will occur in the spring of 2024.
Donations in Rita’s memory may be made to the Anglican Parish of Mascouche, SPCA or charity of choice.
